While the initial teaser trailers of Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin adaptation have been underwhelming, with the first look at Will Smith’s Genie causing its own fair show of concern across the internet, Disney has finally calmed concerned fans.
Today, Disney released the official theatrical trailer for the film, which should calm down many of the concerns fans already have for the film, with a much bigger look at the world of Agrabah, as well as a look at Will Smith – both as the blue Genie but also some scenes where he takes a normal human form.
The trailer also gives us a little of the relationship between Aladdin (Mena Massoud) and Jasmine (Naomi Scott) and some of the musical numbers, mainly Will Smith’s hip-hop flavored take on “Friend Like Me” and of course, Aladdin and Jasmine’s “A Whole New World” duet.
We were skeptical about the prospects of the film based on the initial trailers, but this new trailer has us feeling a bit more confident about the film.
Disney will release Aladdin in theaters on May 24, just in time for Memorial Day. Enjoy the trailer below.
