It was just last year that director Ari Aster gave audiences quite the scare with his astounding debut Hereditary. He’s wasted no time following it up with his second feature Midsommar, set for release this summer via A24.
The official synopsis from A24 reads: “A couple’s vacation to a Swedish village takes a sinister turn when the insular townspeople invite them into a series of rituals that render their pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving, in this dread-soaked and viscerally disquieting psychological thriller.” The film stars Fighting With My Family‘s Florence Pugh, Sing Street & Free Fire‘s Jack Reynor, Will Poulter (It, The Maze Runner, etc.), and The Good Place‘s William Jackson Harper.
Midsommar looks like another dread-filled slow burn that will lead to an unnerving wild finale, much like Aster’s prior feature.

Midsommar is in theaters on August 9, 2019.
