Shazam hits theaters next month, and today Warner Bros released the second trailer for the highly anticipated film.
The latest DC entry is directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out) and stars both Asher Angel as a 14-year-old foster kid named Billy Batson who inherits superhero powers just by shouting the name Shazam and Zachary Levi (Chuck) as the adult Superman-like superhero Shazam (also known as Captain Marvel, but not that Captain Marvel).
The new trailer shows Billy and his best friend/foster sibling Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer of It) discovering the extent of Shazam’s superpowers and having plenty of fun with it along the way. There’s also some more footage of Mark Strong as Doctor Silvana, the evil villain that goes up against Shazam. All while soundtracked by Eminem’s “My Name Is”.
The second Shazam trailer showcases all the lighthearted comedic aspects that made Levi a good pick for the role, definitely trying to get all those onboard who were previously left cold by the dark serious nature of previous DC entries.
Shazam arrives in theaters on April 5th. Enjoy the trailer below.
