Trailer: First Footage of Duncan Jones’ Netflix-Bound ‘Mute’ Arrives!

Mute trailer still - Leo (Alexander Skarsgard) underwater

Mute, Duncan Jones’ long-awaited spiritual follow-up to 2009’s Moon, is nearing release on Netflix, and there’s finally a glimpse of the cyberpunk near-future!

Set in 2052 Berlin, Mute follows Leo Beiler (Alexander Skarsgard), a mute overprotective bartender looking for his missing secretive girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh), and two 70s-esque American surgeons/investigators named Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd – also featured in the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp) and Duck Teddington (Justin Theroux) hired by Leo’s bar boss.

While the trailer (above) reveals a little about the plot of the film, the Blade Runner-esque future Berlin, as well as the cyberpunk aesthetics, are definitely a sight to behold. As to how this will connect to Moon is anyone’s guess … for another month.
