Fellow Star Wars fans, the wait is almost over! With just under 10 weeks to go until The Last Jedi hits theaters, Disney is celebrating with the release of a full theatrical trailer on Monday Night Football, timed with ticketing services unlocking opening weekend ticket presales.
In this most likely final theatrical trailer, director Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper) showcases more of the action and tension hinted at in the first teaser trailer, but cranks the darkness up to 11.
Rey (Daisy Ridley) starts training with Luke (Mark Hamill) on Ahch-To, but her level of Force acumen disturbs Luke and reminds him of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the Knights of Ren. Elsewhere, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), General Leia (Carrie Fisher), and the Resistance regroup, and Finn (John Boyega) recovers, all while Kylo seeks out Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).
There’s a whole lot more going on in the film, but not a lot of plot context, outside of the brief moments hinted in the trailer. Several new characters (Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose, Ahch-To natives, Benicio Del Toro’s DJ, and Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Holdo) still haven’t been glimpsed, but the Porgs get their moment in the spotlight, along with the returning Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) facing off against Finn.
Needless to say, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is already promising to be just what fans have been waiting for. Check out the trailer (below) for yourself, along with a new cast poster that was dropped this morning.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th, but it’s not like you haven’t been looking forward to it since the release of The Force Awakens.
