New York City is still changing in the aftermath of Wilson Fisk’s takedown in Daredevil‘s first season, and Frank Castle’s presence isn’t the only thing.
The first half of the season 2 trailer Netflix dropped 10 days ago focused primarily on Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and only hinted at Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) reappearing in Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) life. But now Netflix dropped a follow-up trailer that’s a little more plot-heavy, action-heavy, and, well, Elektra-heavy. And it is glorious.
The Yakuza are back – well, they never really left after Matt took down Nobu (Peter Shinkoda) – and they mean business. But so do Matt and Elektra, who team up in the trailer and take out a room of Yakuza underlings … and devour some diner food. However, Matt’s relationships with Foggy (Elden Henson) and Claire (Rosario Dawson) are on the rocks, and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) is still in the dark as to the fact that Matt is Daredevil. Stick (Scott Glenn) appears to return to warn Matt about The Hand, perhaps operating under the guise of the Yakuza, which promises something called The Rising (lots of destruction will abound, presumably). And there also appears to be more of a cinematic flair to the season – maybe the perks of a bigger budget?
I, for one, am even more eager for the return of Daredevil – costume tweaks (red eyes in the mask, possible grappling hook-like modifications to his sticks) included – and have solid plans to binge the second season in a weekend when it hits Netflix on March 18th.
