According to The Wrap the cast for Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four is finally set. The actors are nearing in on deals and it’s all set to be final soon. Here’s what we’re looking at:
Miles Teller will play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan will play Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Jamie Bell will play Ben Grimm/Thing, and Kate Mara will play Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Johnny’s sister).
I’m quite pleased with the casting. All four actors are some of the best young talent working in Hollywood today. This may not be the sort of casting that mainstream audiences had in mind, but a fresh look at the comic is what we need after the atrocity that was the 2005 film. I don’t expect the reaction to be glowing from fans at first, but lets give these guys a chance.
Teller and Jordan are two of Hollywoods rising stars, doing some great work last year with The Spectacular Now and Fruitvale Station respectfully. Jamie Bell has been putting out great work consistently over the years, and Kate Mara delivered one of the many great performances on Netflix’s House Of Cards.
The casting is all but officially confirmed, but it’s all looking quite concrete.
The Fantastic Four is slated for a June 19, 2015 release date. Josh Trank (Chronicle) will direct. The fact that Trank worked with Jordan previously on Chronicle definitely had something to do with the casting if you ask me.
